Fingerprinting and Virtus

As part of the Diocesan safe environment program, volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and attend a Virtus workshop.  This is a requirement for any adult  - clergy, staff, and volunteers - working with children within a Catholic  parish or school, including but not limited to Religious Education programs, CYO, etc.   Information regarding these requirements as well as forms and Virtus scheduling, can be found here.

Catechist Certification

We encourage catechists and aides to pursue catechist certification through classes offered "in person" and online.  There are two components to catechist certification process - methodology, i.e. the "nuts and bolts" of teaching Religious Education, and general theology.

For the theology component, you can choose from either the McGrath Institute for Church Life at Notre Dame or the Catechetical Institute at Franciscan University.  More detailed information and the registration link can be found here.
